In Conversation with Photographer, Sophie Elgort: How to Achieve Photo-Ready Skin

Sophie Elgort

Sophie Elgort is a talented fashion & portrait photographer and a loyal RéVive fan. With her expertise in photography, she knows how to prep skin for the most flawless memories. Her secret? She suggests her clients avoid heavy makeup, which can make your skin look dry and highlight wrinkles, in favor of a more natural appearance. Sophie tells clients to choose luxurious, hydrating skincare to create a radiant complexion. We’re partnered to share some of Sophie’s tips with you on how to achieve photo-ready skin.

Hydration & Protection:

“It’s all about consistency. Prepare your skin in advance so that it looks healthy and radiant on camera (and every day). If you don’t have a skincare routine that works for you, it’s not too late to start. Hydration is also key! Drink a lot of water, it keeps skin hydrated and plump,” says Sophie. For hydrated skin, she recommends Moisturizing Renewal Hydrogel Serum formulated with 4D Hyaluronic Acid to leave you with plump and soft skin.

“Try to stay out of the sun as much as you can. Sun damage can cause premature aging, dark spots, and uneven skin tone, not to mention skin cancer. Of course, you can’t stay out of the sun all the time if you’re like me and love be outside, but be sure to wear sunscreen and a hat! If you plan to be on camera you should also try to avoid sun in the week leading up to it,” explains Sophie. She opts for RéVive’s Moisturizing Renewal Day Cream SPF 30 or Soleil Superieur SPF 50 for both protection and moisturization on the daily – both leave skin protected and glowing!

Eating Well & Sleeping:

“Get some sleep! Make sure you get enough sleep in the days leading up to being on camera. I don’t have to tell you this, but lack of sleep can cause dark circles, puffy eyes, and dull skin,” says Sophie. We know that life gets in the way of getting a good night’s rest. In those instances when you cannot get a full amount of sleep, Sophie recommends using Masque Des Yeux Instant. This gel eye mask provides soothing hydration that refreshes and brightens the appearance around the entire eye area in just 15 minutes!

Sophie also says to “avoid alcohol and salty foods before a shoot, which can cause dehydration and puffiness. My mom tells this story about how she showed up on set one morning and the makeup artist could tell she had eaten something salty the night before because her skin was puffy.“ ReVive’s ReVolve Contouring Massage Roller is a great tool to combat facial puffiness. Sophie especially loves the smaller side of the roller, as it targets the delicate eye area to provide a firmer and less puffy appearance.

Don’t Forget Your Neck:

“Don't forget your neck area! Just like you don't want your makeup to end right at the edge of your face, you don't want your skincare to stop there either. A well-known supermodel whose career is still in full force at 50 years old told me that one of her secrets is doing her skincare routine down to her chest area.” Sophie swears by Fermitif Neck Renewal Serum, it instantly lifts, tightens, and smooths the neck and decolletage with powerful firming ingredients.

Sophie’s most important tip of all is “have fun and be confident that you look great in your own skin. There’s no substitute for feeling great.”
