Micaela Erlanger’s Skincare Must-Haves

How has the fashion industry changed in 2020 and what do you see trending in 2021?
2020 has been a year of change and reflection for all industries, especially fashion. Designers and brands have had to rethink and reimagine their business models and adapt to new consumer trends faster than ever before. I think 2021 is going to be a rebirth in many ways. From a focus on sustainability and ethics to more circular business practices. I am excited for the future of fashion.
When it comes to self-presentation, what would you say has been the best advice you ever received?
My mother always taught me to have clean, manicured hands because the first thing you do when you meet someone is exchange a handshake. Ever since then I have been obsessive about having perfectly polished nails. Second to that is having clean skin and hair!
And when it comes to self-presentation, what advice do you most often give clients?
I think your smile is your best accessory and when you feel confident that shines through. I also preach to my clients about not sleeping in their makeup. During awards season, my celebrity clients have press and red carpet appearances every day of the week. This can be really harsh and exhausting especially on their skin, so I encourage them to take time in their routine to care for and nourish their skin.
What has been your relationship with skincare – has it always been part of your day-to-day or was it something you have focused on in recent years?
I have always been obsessed with my skin and caring for it. Ever since I was a little girl my mom and grandmother would preach about how important it was to get into a routine at an early age. Cleanse, moisturize and use sunscreen! I am so grateful for that because, as a result, my skin looks great for my age. I’m just adapting my routine as I get older or as the seasons change.
How important is skincare in how you or your clients present themselves for big events?
Your skin is everything! Especially now that my clients are always on Zoom or on HD video, I feel like the emphasis and focus on radiant skin has increased.
When getting your clients red carpet-ready, what are some of the skincare must-haves you recommend?

I always recommend that my clients do a light exfoliation and use a good hydrating mask. Also, not to forget their under eye area and lips- this skin is so delicate and requires extra care. When they are exposing skin like their arms or chest, I recommend they use a little highlight. One of my favorite new products is RéVive’s Glow Elixir Hydrating Radiance Oil.
What does your daily skincare routine look like?
When I wake up, the first thing I do is drink a full glass of water. I feel it gives me that extra boost. Then I’ll wash my face and apply a serum, followed by eye cream, face cream with SPF, and lip balm. I don’t really wear makeup but if I’m going someplace, I’ll throw on a swipe of mascara, a little blush, and maybe a gloss. In the evening, I’ll typically use a makeup remover towel just to get the dirt off, then in the shower I’ll wash my face with a hydrating cleanser. I’ll use a rich cream on my face and neck. I’ll also use cream on my hands and sometimes during the dry winter months I sleep with gloves on to lock in extra hydration.
What is one skincare product you cannot live without and why?

Oh, this is a tough question! I'm obsessed with RéVive's Perfectif Even Skin Tone Serum and Perfectif Even Skin Tone Cream SPF 30. This is what I swear by every day. The products are so lightweight that they layer nicely together as well as under makeup.

I also can't live without RéVive’s
Soleil Supérieur Body SPF 50.
I have been in Miami this year and protecting my skin from the sun here is very important. My skin drinks up this body lotion - I love it.
Are there any new RéVive products that you’ve tried that you think will become a new skincare staple?
The Moisturizing Renewal Serum is something I've started using in the evening and I can say I’m officially hooked. I’ve already seen dramatic improvement to my fine lines!
You are getting married soon, right? It’s been quite the year for couples. What is your top tip for brides-to-be in preparing for the big day?
I am! As a bride-to-be I know how difficult this year has been. But I will say that it has given me more time to get my skin camera-ready after all, it’s the photos that will last forever and you want to look and feel your best! I have been using this time to really focus on evening the overall tone of my complexion, while also doing my part to minimize the appearance of fine lines. I recommend that brides-to-be give themselves AT LEAST 6 -8 months to work on their skin routine in order to see a real change. I am so grateful I have had this time because I couldn't be more excited about my results!
